Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Cora is a novel writing editor for macOS and iOS. We built it with a single guiding principle: your writing is yours alone. This policy explains what data Cora handles, where it stays, and what we never do with it.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, transmit, sell, or have any access to:

  • Your stories, drafts, outlines, notes, or any writing content
  • Character and story structure information you enter in the app
  • Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
  • Device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data
  • Usage analytics, session data, or behavioral tracking of any kind

Cora has no account system, no registration, and no login. There is nothing to collect because there is no server receiving data from the app.

3. Local Storage

All content you create in Cora — stories, chapters, notes, and structure — is stored exclusively on your device using the secure sandboxed storage provided by macOS and iOS. Your data never leaves your device through Cora.

You can export, back up, or delete your data at any time from within the app. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data.

4. iCloud Backup

If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, your Cora data may be included in your personal iCloud backup as part of standard iOS/macOS system backups. This backup is managed entirely by Apple and your own Apple ID — we have no access to it. You can exclude Cora from iCloud Backup in your device's iCloud settings at any time.

Apple's privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

5. App Store and Purchases

Cora is distributed through the Apple App Store. Any purchase, download, or subscription is handled entirely by Apple. We receive only anonymized, aggregated sales data from Apple — never your name, email, or payment information. Apple's handling of your payment and account details is governed by Apple's own Privacy Policy.

6. Crash Reports and Diagnostics

If you have enabled "Share with App Developers" in your device's Privacy & Analytics settings, Apple may forward anonymized crash reports to us when the app crashes. These reports contain technical stack traces and device model information (e.g., "iPhone 15, iOS 18.2") and do not include any of your writing content or personal data. We use this information solely to fix bugs and improve stability.

You can disable this at any time under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

7. This Website

This website (the Cora landing page) does not use cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics services. No personal data is collected when you visit this site.

8. Children's Privacy

Cora is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since Cora collects no personal data from any users, this applies equally to all age groups.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the app's functionality changes in a way that affects data handling. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We will not reduce your privacy protections without clear notice.

10. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how Cora handles data, please reach out via our contact page.
